Explore does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. There are no user accounts, no servers, no databases, no analytics, no telemetry. Nothing you do in the app is recorded or sent anywhere by us.
Explore is a file manager, so it reads directories and files you grant it access to. That access lives entirely on your Mac. Folder contents, file previews, and thumbnails are never transmitted off your device.
macOS's App Sandbox controls every folder Explore can see. On first access to a folder outside your Downloads, Pictures, Music, or Movies folders, the system asks you to grant access — that's macOS, not us, managing the permission.
Explore keeps a local cache of thumbnails and directory listings in ~/Library/Caches/com.darrenoakey.Explore to keep the app fast. This cache is rebuilt as needed and never leaves your Mac. Your persisted folder-access grants live in macOS's standard UserDefaults store — again, never transmitted.
Explore does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash-reporting services.
If this policy changes we'll update the date above. Because Explore doesn't collect data, there isn't much to change.
